Projects

We have built a microalgae bioreactor to purify air and water. The microalgae can filter a wide variety of common pollutants, such as formaldehyde, ammonia, and carbon dioxide. The bioreactor facilitates the regulation of the microalgae— its life cycle— as well as cycling all the necessary gasses and water. Specifically, our technology ensures that the algal life cycle can continue indefinitely. When polluted air is funneled into the reactor, for instance with a high concentrate of carbon dioxide, the algae absorbs the carbon and outputs oxygenated air which can then be circulated.

Local Law 97, which took effect in 2024, is a new requirement for buildings over a certain size in NYC to lower greenhouse gas emissions by a significant percentage. We believe that our bioreactor can meet the need for air purification. More information can be found at: https://accelerator.nyc/ll97
